Abstract

The results of investigation of the electroconductive non-ferromagnetic layer steady state are
presented for local gradient approach in thermomechanics. It is shown that in the load-free body
there exists a non-zero steady stressed state. The characteristics sizes of nearsurface nonhomogeneity
are associated with structural heterogeneity of the material, geometrical nonuniformity
of the body real surface and Coulomb’s interaction forces. It is indicated that a size
effect is inherent to surface stresses and that the value of the thermodynamical electric potential
that is established at the body surface is determined by its physical and geometrical properties.
