A variational approach to the study of the stress state of layered shells and plates with interphase defects is proposed. A variational equation was considered from which equilibrium equations and static boundary conditions on parts of external surfaces, kinematic joint conditions on conjugation surfaces were obtained. The problems for a two-layer plate with a boundary interlayer crack and an edge zone of plastic slippage are considered. The influence on the stress state of the mechanical and geometric parameters of the plates is analyzed.
